If I was you for example would I have to burn more calories than 2000 or Do I just have to eat 2000 calories a day ?

  3. Ammo Bee

I think this formula applies to people under 30% bodyfat. If you are over then you would use your lean body mass rather than your current weight.

I'm 38, 5ft 7, endomorph, 195lbs. I paint 6 days a week, 8 hours per day, on my feet all day but I'm fat. Currently calorie consumption is 2600-3000 per day. If I dropped down my calorie consumption to 1800-2000 per day as the formula suggests then I would loose weight.

  4. Delo Gates

NO! Just NO! However, from my understanding and research what the formula actually should be is take your IDEAL body weight or GOAL weight and multiply it by 10. There is no way your formula would work for someone really overweight. For example, I used to be 350+lbs. If I had used your formula I would have gained weight, even with exercise. You can use the Free TDEE calculator and enter your stats and it will tell you what your TDEE and basal metabolic rate and it will tell you exactly how many calories you should eat to Maintain your current weight, or how many to eat to Cut weight or to Bulk/Gain weight. https://tdeecalculator.net

but multiplying by 10 is way low I guess, If its 13 or 12 I think is ok cuz, my wight is about 145-143 around that and I dont know If I can eat like 1500 calories or lower.

  6. Orange

Soooo…are you supposed to have at least the number of calories everyday? I really dont understand

  7. Phine Parcon

Does it matter if you do 45min stair cardio? I’m 165 so means I have to eat round 1600 calories a day

  8. Dylan Taylor

1lb of fat = 3500 calories. Caloric intake varies based on daily physical activities. I wouldn’t trust this method.

    Bodyweight x 10

Not true at all!… for one if a guy weighs 200lbs and is already muscular but just has some extra fat he wants to lose does not need to eat only 2000cals a day!… for one if he hits the gym 5 timed a week and leads a general active lifestyle he will burn 2,800- 3,000 a day no problem so he can easily have 2,300- 2,700 a day a still lose fat! All you have to do is cut out 95% of refined sugars and eat low fat wholegrain foods, along with fruits and vegetables and cut out ALL the processed and empty caloric foods!… your method is way too low in calories!

  11. Mouhamed Laroussi

But does it not depend on how active you are

  12. Z Deep

a caloric deficit doesnt mean SH*T . if you burn 2,000 cals in the gym & then go home & smash 1,000 calories of pure garbage , your not gonna lose ANY weight . the best way to lose weight is to stop pumping in the bullsh*t & get your azz to the gym & RAGE . this caloric deficit is a bunch of bullsh*t . enough

  13. Princess C

    Why times it by 10?

What about if im 275 but my ideal weight (for now) would be like 215ish?

  15. Manal Khalique

    Thanks 🙂

This is simply wrong, you do not take your weight and times by 10 to get your calorie deficit number.

If I did that now, 266lb x 10 = 2660 calories?? That's above my BMR, I would Infact gain weight.

Your BMR (daily intake calorie to function and maintain current weight) is calculated by this formula

    6.23 x weight 267lbs = 1663.41
    12.7 x height inches 76.2 = 967.74
    = 2684.69
    Minus 6.76 x age 25 = 169

My BMR currently = 2528 calories per day

To create a calorie deficit you simply eat less than this, for example 500cal less per day is approx 1lb of weight loss per week. Daily calorie intake would be 2028 calories.

Or can be a mixture of diet and workout, for example 250cal deficit in food, 250cal deficit from working out.

As your body adjusts and begins to plateau your progression, you can increase calories burnt during workout or decrease calories taken in.

A 1000cal deficit per day equals approx 2lbs weight loss per week, this is likely maximum as anything greater than this is not healthy to lose so quickly!

Smaller people shouldn't go for large deficits as this is also dangerous.

Slow and steady wins the race!😃😃

    Appreciate your help brother.well explained

  18. Wing

    I think it’s HOMEOstasis

  19. Dano1947

By your logic I'd have to take in 1853 calories a day which is 18 lbs over my ideal weight of 155-160 lbs. You seem to be contradicting yourself.

  20. Dano1947

So in order to get down to 157, I'd have to limit my caloric intake to no more then 1570 calories a day max, right?

  21. Dominique Blagojevic

If I ate 1290 calories a day I would be a raging bitch! Lol

  22. NA Aa

    I’m 125.4 lb , so i need 1250 kcal/day…. i’ll try it for 10 days then i’ll come back to update!

  23. Newbie Fitness Academy

I'm a big fan of anybody who can simplify something that is seemingly complicated. Great job!

  24. Logan Gomez

I need to get myself a scale first.

  25. colbypark1

Let's say you workout daily and burn 800-1,000 calories during the workout. Does that mean you can eat between 2,800-3,000? Do you take into account burned calories from working out?

  26. Red Screen

    So, dose this acctually work.
